Rylan Young & Derek Dean Win '26 Harwood Two Man ~ Capture 5th Title!

This past weekend at Highview Golf Course we held our Twenty Ninth Annual Two Man Scramble Tournament Sponsored by Harwood Plumbing & Heating!
Our annual two-day event had another terrific showing as a full field of 224 competitors joined us for this year's tournament! We experienced great weather all weekend long, which the golfers definitely appreciated. Starting on Friday we had great temperatures and conditions for the practice rounds. Moving onto Saturday qualifying rounds, the golfers dealt with scattered showers throughout the day but the warmth and breaks from the rain kept the rounds moving along well. On Sunday, we had a far better forecast and the weather provided a perfect day for golf. Overall the men played with excellent greens, superb course conditions, and some exciting but tough pin placements. Which in turn produced solid scores from the competitors over the weekend!
We had Practice Round tee times all-day Friday, Qualifying Rounds on Saturday from 7:30-9:40 & 1:00-3:10, and Final Round Shotguns at 8:30am & 1:45pm on Sunday.
It was a very exciting Harwood weekend once again for everyone involved this year!
For the last two years we've had a recent streak of new first-time winners. For this year's rendition of the Highview Two Man Scramble Tournament we have our first repeat winners since 2023.
Our 2026 Two Man Scramble Champions are; Rylan Young & Derek Dean!
The duo posted two fantastic scores on the weekend to capture their fifth Highview Two Man Scramble title as a pair. (6th Win for Rylan)
First on Saturday, Young & Dean shot a bogey-less round of Minus-9, 61, which set them up in a very good position ahead of the rest of the field going into Final Rounds on Sunday. Rylan & Derek had to continue their tremendous play in order to stay above of the competition and potentially pull out the win.
With much nicer weather and more difficult tees and hole placements on Sunday, it was up in the air which team would win the 29th Annual Harwood Two Man Scramble going into the Final Shotgun Rounds.
Shooting from the Blue Tees - Rylan & Derek carded a well-played round of Minus-8, 62, to go wire-to-wire atop the Harwood Two Man leaderboard for their win. Going 61/62 over the weekend, Young & Dean had the lowest single day scores for both Saturday & Sunday. The duo played consistently great both days and finished with an amazing two-day score of 123 - beating the closest team by 4 strokes!

Since 2014, Highview and the Harwood Family have given out a special honour each year to the team(s) in our tournament who were noticeably having the most fun and displaying great sportsmanship throughout the event.
The award is named after Bruce Milne - a friend of Highview Golf Course and a man who was known for having a great time on and off the course; especially at our Highview Two Man Scramble Tournaments over the years!
