Over this past weekend we held the Twenty Sixth Annual Harwood Plumbing & Heating Two Man Scramble Tournament at Highview Golf Course!
Our annual two-day event attracted a full field of 208 competitors once again this year. The teams had a few cloudy scares but played in some solid conditions overall and nice weather all weekend long! We had Practice Round tee times all-day Friday, Qualifying Rounds on Saturday from 7:30-9:30 & 1:00-3:00, and Final Round Shotguns at 8:30am & 1:45pm on Sunday. It was a bumping weekend for all at Highview!
Our 2023 Two Man Scramble Winners are the first repeat winners since 2015! This year's champions are none other than our 2022 winners; Rylan Young & Derek Dean (Other Previous Wins - '18 & '16). Capturing their fourth Harwood Two Man Championship as partners! The duo posted an outstanding Minus-11, 59 on Saturday. Leading by three strokes going into the Sunday Final Rounds. Groups prepared for some hotter weather, as well as trickier tees and hole placements on Sunday. Shooting from the Blue Tees - Young & Dean posted a solid Minus-1, 69 to finish the two-day event at 128 in a tie with 8-time winners, Nick Nauta & Dean Harrington. Coming into the clubhouse with a 62 on Saturday and 66 on Sunday, Nauta & Harrington forced a Sudden Death Playoff against Rylan Young & Derek Dean at the end of the Final Rounds.
Sudden Death Playoff Scenarios at Highview are played on Holes #1, 2, & 18 (Repeated if Needed). Starting on #1, Young/Dean & Nauta/Harrington all just missed the green off the tee. Both teams chipped on from a short distance, leaving Young & Dean with a short Par putt and Nauta & Harrington with a mid-range putt to push it to a second playoff hole. Nauta/Harrington both just missed their putts, allowing Young & Dean to tap in theirs to win the Playoff with a Par - 3 on the 1st Hole.

As mentioned, Rylan and Derek's total two-day score was a Minus-12, 128 (59/69).
They also had the low one-day score of the event with their Saturday Round ~ 59!

Since 2014, Highview Golf Course and the Harwood Family have partnered in handing out a special honour to the team(s) in our tournament who were noticeably having the most fun and displaying great sportsmanship throughout the event.
The award is named after Bruce Milne - a friend of Highview Golf Course and a man who was known for having a great time on and off the golf course; especially at our Harwood Two Man Scramble Tournaments.
